A new era for sustainability
Physical internet RegeneratIve Sustainable MAterials
Project connects circular economy and digital innovation to recover spent coffee grounds and turn waste into new sustainable resources through an integrated Physical Internet platform

The PRISMA project focuses on creating an integrated framework for the circular management of spent coffee grounds using a Physical Internet based supply chain. It combines logistics engineering, sustainability assessment, and advanced digital technologies to improve recovery, traceability, and valorization of secondary raw materials. By integrating material flow modeling with real-time digital information management, enabled through IoT, blockchain, AI, and digital twins, the project develops a decision-support platform for optimized, transparent, and scalable circular logistics. Structured into four work packages, PRISMA covers supply chain characterization, circular logistics modeling, digital platform development, and validation through sustainability impact assessment. The project delivers a validated technological platform, formal circular logistics models, and transferable methods to advance sustainable logistics, support policy-making, and enhance resource efficiency.
